The Egyptian Museum where we can see some of Egypt's most beloved treasures. Among the 100,000 pieces housed on the museum's two floors is the famous exhibit of Tutankhamun, whose tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in 1922. The tomb and treasures of this young Pharaoh, modest by pharaonic Egyptian standards, is perhaps the best preserved of the discovered tombs. In addition, we will see archaeological relics from the Old Kingdom, Middle Kingdom, New Kingdom and Greco-Roman periods.
The citadel of Saladin built in the 12th Century and was the seat of power for the following 700 years. On the premises is the Alabaster Mosque of Mohammed Ali, one of the landmarks in Cairo whose minaret can be seen from any part of the city. The Mohammed Ali mosque was built in Turkish style, very similar to the Blue Mosque in Turkey
Coptic Cairo You will visit two churches. One Church is that of Saint Sergius where the church's crypt is presumed to have been the spot where the Holy Family lived during their flight into Egypt. The present building dates from the 11th century. The second Church is The Hanging Church dates back to the late third century. It is called so because it was built over remains of roman fortress. It became the seat of the patriarchies after transferring it from Alexandria to Alfustat.
As you stroll along, you will come to the recently restored Synagogue of Ben Ezra, the oldest Jewish synagogue in Egypt. It was one of the churches which belong to the hanging church but the patriarch Mikhail was forced to sell it to the Rabbi Ibrahim Ben Ezra to be able to pay the taxes estimated by the governor Ahmed Ibn Toulon at the value of 20,000 gold Dinars every year.
Khan el khalili market Shops in this district are legendary for fine brassware, copper, leather, antiques and more.
The tour duration is 6 hours approximately.
